Blewbury and Wallingford Cricket Club

There was a time when Upton had its own cricket team, but those days are long past. Now, having merged within neighbouring Blewbury in the 1970s , Upton cricket lives on in spirit (and some bodies) as Blewbury and Wallingford Cricket Club, aka the Blew Wallies.

The Blew Wallies’ home ground is at the recreation ground in Blewbury, with its architect-designed pavilion and pleasant downland location. The senior side play in the Cherwell League Division 3 on Saturdays and, while Sunday cricket is no longer available, there are two thriving midweek T20 teams: a league side on Wednesday evenings and a social team on Thursday evenings. All our cricket is played in a friendly fashion with a warm welcome extended to new players.

Our junior section is particularly strong with U13 and U11 teams and regular practice sessions on Friday evenings during the season.

Winter nets take place on Sunday afternoons at Moulsford Prep’s sports centre, 1-3pm.

If you are interested in joining the club or would like to get involved in some cricket or sponsorship, we welcome ANY new players, no matter what your level of playing ability. Email is the best way to get in touch initially via moc.liamgnull@ccdrofgnillawyrubwelb, though you could also try Colin Allen on 07939 318 948. If you are specifically interested in youth cricket, contact Keith Vincent on 07812 696 433. For our website, google “Blew Wallies”.
