As from the beginning of May a 22 mile stretch of the Ridgeway from Churn to Bishopstown in Wiltshire has been designated a Restricted Byway.
Restricted Byways can be used by walkers, cyclists, horse-riders and horse-drawn carriages but not by motorcyclists or by motor vehicles being used for recreational purposes. Signs to this effect will be erected during the summer. A further 4½ mile section of the Ridgeway near Watlington has been similarly designated.
The section of the Ridegeway from Churn to Streatley remains open to recreational vehicles but only in the summer months.
