Double Death
The Mill at Sonning, 22 February 2007
This was a new venture, because the Mill at Sonning has a compulsory dinner with coffee and a complimentary programme included in the ticket price.
It’s also potentially quite a difficult drive through rush hour traffic, and an inevitable bottleneck as you approach the Thames bridge at Sonning. A number of different routes were attempted, with varying success
But all arrived in time to enjoy the venue and the meal, which we ate at two reserved Upton tables, so it became a social occasion as well as a theatre visit.
The converted mill has a large amphitheatre with excellent sight lines, and the professional company made the most of the thrills and suspense of a play about the differing personalities of otherwise identical twin brothers – I guessed the ending, but it didn’t detract from a thoroughly pleasurable evening.
And the drive home was a lot easier.
