Marathon Congratulations

April 23, 2007

Congratulations to Julian Sayers, who completed the London Marathon in 4:47:57 in unseasonally high temperatures.

Julian said:

“Many thanks to all those in the Village who supported my run as a result of which £15,000 has been raised to date for The Anthony Nolan Trust and the RABI. The going was a bit too hot for this particular horse which slowed down between 15 and 20 miles despite taking on plenty of water! Having said that taking part was a fantastic experience and one which I will not forget for a long time to come. My next outing will be the Hagbourne Fun Run!”

Julian took part in this year’s London Marathon on Sunday 22nd April to raise money for The Anthony Nolan Bone Marrow Trust, who offered him a place having been on their donor list for many years, and The Royal Agricultural Benevolent Institution (RABI), of which he is a Trustee. The decision to run followed a campaign to get fit over the previous18 months and having successfully taken part in a series of 10k (6 mile) events, he decided to go for broke and attempt the full 26 miles!

If you would like to sponsor Julian, there are three ways you can donate:

  • Visit his marathon website www.justgiving.com/juliansayers and donate online for the Anthony Nolan Bone Marrow Trust.
  • Send an email to julian.sayers@adkin.co.uk and confirm the amount you wish to pledge together with your full address and postcode in order that tax can be reclaimed via Gift Aid if appropriate. Please feel free to specify which Charity you wish to donate to otherwise the funds will be split equally between the two.
  • Send a cheque to Julian, made payable to “J A Sayers” and confirm your name, address and other details as above.

All donations are very much appreciated.
