Recent improvements to the Recreation Ground have seen the installation of new Goalposts and a Ballwall and the installation of a Sprung Rocker in the children’s playground.
Our village volunteer workforce have been busy on several occasions recently installing a Sprung Rocker in the children’s playground and installing a Ballwall and a new set of goalposts in the Recreation Ground.
The Ballwall, which still requires painting with the various sport targets, is part of the Recreation Ground improvements that were agreed at a parish meeting last year.
The new full size Football Goalposts replace the ones that we had to remove last year on safety grounds. Once the grass cutting season has finished a net will be put up at one of the goals. The village is grateful to the Football Foundation who contributed £248 towards the cost of the posts and nets.

The Rocker is part of an on going program of work to improve the children’s playground. The village is very grateful to Vic and Sheila Dawson who donated £177, proceeds of their Christmas lights show, to Daphne Simpson and the handbell ringers who donated £74 proceeds from their handbell concert, and to Mrs Blandford who made a private donation of £10 all towards the cost of the Rocker.
The attached picture shows Vic and Sheila with their Grandson testing the installation of Rocker.
The next phase of the improvement program will be to put new safety mats under both sets of swings and then to look to purchase a playhouse complete with a ladder and slide for the toddlers. Unfortunately the cost of play equipment is high and the Parish Council is limited in the amount that it can put into the improvements each year.
