Upton has entered the Oxfordshire Village of the Year Competition and been shortlisted.
Upton has been shortlisted together with 17 other villages in the Village of the Year competition organised by the Oxfordshire Rural Community Council and sponsored by Calor. This is a competition that recognises community effort in caring, communication, local activities and looking after the local environment.
The village has been shortlisted as a result of a comprehensive entry form that we completed a few weeks ago. The next stage is for us to send three representatives from the village to go and talk with the judges on Saturday 18th August at Kennington Village Hall. Graham De Wilde will lead the team with Belinda Drew from the Parish Council and Ben Shaw representing our younger parishioners. They will be taking with them what we trust will be good supporting display material. Judging will start at 10.00 and be complete by 2.00.
The judging event is open to other villages and to visitors to drop in to observe examples of good practice and will give us the opportunity to pick up good ideas from other entrants.
The results will be announced on October 3rd.
