Blewbury Players, an exciting year ahead

January 2, 2025

Blewbury Players have an exciting year ahead. Don’t miss out, why not come along and join in? You could join the singing and shouting in the pantomime audience or audition for our summer production… something for everyone 😊

Audition workshops for A Monster Calls

This is the play version of the bestselling classic novel by Patrick Ness. It is a powerful story about love, loss and hope and the power of story telling. Our director Sabina Netherclift  explains that …’Thirteen year old Conor has the same dream every night, ever since his mother first fell seriously ill. But tonight is different. Tonight when he wakes, there’s monster at his window. It’s elemental, a force of nature, and it wants something from Conor. It wants the truth’

We are holding workshop auditions. The ensemble will create the world of the play and will include Conor, Mum, Dad, Grandma, The Monster, school students, and the characters of the stories the Monster tells. The Ensemble will also at times create the inner world of Connor’s heart and head. We are looking to audition actors from 13 years, with no upper age limit. Here is a rough guide to the playing age of the characters (not necessarily the age of the actors) are;

Connor and teenage characters playing age 13, Grandma: 60 and above, Mum & Dad mid 30s to mid 50s, Miss Godfrey Mid 20s-50s, Ensemble (5-7 people) and Monster 13 upwards

Performances will be 16 -19 July 2025 at Orchard Dene Garden Theatre, Blewbury.

Please contact us at blewburyplayers@gmail.com if you are interested in taking part on or off stage. Initial auditions will be held on 8 & 9 February 2025. Do please let us know if you would like to audition but are not available on that weekend. There is more information about the auditions, production and rehearsals at www.blewburyplayers.co.uk
