Blewbury WI next meet on Wednesday September 23rd. The talk will be “The Mitford Sisters”. They are described as “Outrageous, appalling, over privileged……endlessly entertaining”!! Gillian Cane presents this fascinating topic at 7.30pm in the Vale room of the Blewbury Village Hall.
Recent WI events have been a visit to the Watermill Theatre, a walk plus pub lunch near Henley, a visit to Oxford Botanic Garden, Scrabble and a visit to Highclere castle. So you can see we have something for everyone. Visitors are always made welcome, come for a couple of times to try us out and see if we suit you!!

YUM! BLEWBURY WI are providing the pudding for "An evening with Ron Freeborn" at 19.30 on Wednesday 24th June in Blewbury Village Hall. This is part of the Blewbury Festival fortnight and should be a great night out. Tickets include a glass of wine (or a soft drink) plus a delicious home-made pudding Cost £10. Extra puddings and, of course, more refreshments can be purchased. Many of you will know Ron from his teaching days in Didcot. We will all be entertained and enlightened in Ron’s inimitable style!

Blewbury WI meets next at 7.30pm on Wednesday April 22nd in the Vale Room. The subject will be “Travelling in the Sinai on a Camel”. I always say to my husband that I won’t go anywhere I can’t plug in a hair drier, so the Speaker Betty Collins must be a braver women than I !!!! We’d love to see some ladies from Upton there, just come as a visitor to see what its all about. Up and coming activities include “42nd Street” at the New Theatre, Oxford, a visit to the Oxford Botanic Garden, the private opening of Hatfield House for Oxfordshire WI ladies in mid-June and a pub lunch. Blewbury WI next meets at 19.30 on Wednesday 26th November in the Vale Room of the Blewbury Village Hall. The topic will be “The Thornton Story”. We have been assured of an interesting talk with information on the process of making fine chocolates and of course, those all-important samples, Yum! They do say a couple of squares of dark chocolate a day does you good, will it count if we have a month’s worth all at once? If you need a lift, please ring Mrs Gettings on 851579, she’d be only too pleased to come and get you.
Blewbury WI has just come back from a residential 3 day stay at Denman College in Marcham, doing a variety of courses including "Photoshop". This was free to the ladies that attended, since a grant was awarded to pay their costs. A great time was had by all. See what you are missing! Future events include Riverdance in Oxford and Russian stars ice-skating in Oxford. Daytime activities include Scrabble and Mah-Jong.

Blewbury WI next meets at 7.30 pm on Wednesday October 22nd in the Vale Room, Blewbury Village Hall. The topic will be “Talking Pictures” which involves slides, poetry and prose, sounds interesting!
The WI are always busy, with something for everyone. Upcoming theatre visits include the Nutcracker in December, the Russian ice stars “Cirque de Glace”, in January and Riverdance in February. During the winter we also have weekly Scrabble and Mah-jong sessions to while away those dark afternoons!
