March is here. With all the Spring bulbs shooting through and primroses and snowdrops in full flower, and the days gradually getting longer, we will soon be out in the garden looking forward to Spring. The WI events for March are listed below and any new members would be very welcome to join us.

• Tuesday, 7^th March.   Lyn’s Walk.  An urban walk to the North of Didcot. Starting at Didcot Parkway at 10.30am. If you are catching the bus into Didcot, don’t forget your bus passes and money for coffee, hopefully.
• Wednesday, 8^th March.  Coffee at Style Acre.  10.30am.
• Wednesday, 8^th March.  Scrabble at Bernardines. 7.30pm.
• Wednesday, 22^nd March.  Monthly meeting, AGM, and Social Evening at the Manor Barn, 7.30pm.
• Friday, 24^th March.  RAL Harwell Lecture.  Discovering the Universe from beneath the surface.—Emma Meehan.
• Mah Jong sessions are held every Monday afternoon at 2.30pm.

Christmas is approaching fast and we shall all be so busy with the preparations and seeing that the letters are

Tea for Two? It was more like tea for 200 as the WI Ladies served tea and their delicious homemade cakes at the Fun

Day on June 11^th celebrating the Queen’s 90^th birthday. Everyone will be welcome to join us at the following events,

I love May, one of my favourite months, the warmer weather, the return of the house martins, the lilac is out, and the grass needs cutting! All that, and two long bank holidays to enjoy, without elaborate cooking or shopping to do!  Simply marvellous!

April already! Birds building nests, lambs in the fields, lawns being mown, flowers in the garden, ducklings on the stream, and hopefully some sunshine too! We are putting our plans together for the months ahead, outings, lunches, talks, workshops, all sorts of events, so there is always something for everybody in the WI.

I love December, (really I do!), not only because it’s my birthday, but the excitement of planning presents & food, buying it in beautifully decorated shops, browsing in Christmas markets, filling the freezer with treats for the family, meals out with friends, and family all coming home for the festivities! It’s also nice to get away from all the whizzing about, to spend time with our good friends, at some of our outings & events coming up this month.

Don’t forget that our WI calendars are still available, they will make a lovely & unusual gift for someone, or to keep for yourself to brighten a dull day! Just £8, with all the proceeds going to the refurbishment of the village hall, available in the Post Office, Savages, Red Lion, Blueberry, the Garage and the George & Dragon in Upton!
